Clean Dial's property automatically tracks whether a phone number has been transferred (ported) from its original carrier to a new one. This enumeration property (YES, NO, UNKNOWN) helps you identify users who have switched networks while keeping their number—a critical factor in SMS delivery troubleshooting and identity verification.
When contacts pass through a Clean Dial workflow action or bulk HLR lookup process, the system automatically:
Queries the global mobile network (HLR lookup)
Checks the current network against the original network range
Sets the phone_is_ported property on the contact record
The number has been ported to a different carrier than the original issuer.
The number is still with its original carrier.
Porting status could not be determined.
- Porting issues are a common cause of SMS delivery failure. Knowing a number is ported helps diagnose routing problems.
- Frequent porting can sometimes be a risk signal for fraud models.
- Understand customer mobility between networks.
-
phone_is_ported - Contact records only
